update

on dorm since friday
no time to upload pictures
won't mention my health

Nana and Grampa came up to babysit all day Monday, as Jenn had a tenure dinner to attend and i was on dorm.
he did fine.
he is able to pull himself up to a standing position.
he made his first origami crane.
is beginning to understand percentage dice (apparently wants to play old school CoC).
and likes eating teeting biscuits he holds in his hands.

and to finally unveil that secret project:
Liar Society the most trusted opinions on the web: is a review site started by G. Mike and Money Madden as a way for all of us to stay in touch with one another and our recent media and literary finds. I'm no Ebert, but I'm also no Manning.

quiz taken

normally, i might take these, but I don't post results as they are too easy to "cheat" on.
this one was amusing (thanks to Jeff):

You are .inf You are informative. When you are gone you make life very difficult for others.
Which File Extension are You?

snakester seems to be getting over his cold/ congestion.
he has started enjoying teething biscuits/ cookies when dining in the evening.

back to

snakester is back to a normal sleeping schedule.
yay!

please don't make a scene because there are no new pics yet, they should be coming soon....

once i get a moment to breathe where my thoughts do not immediately drift to sleep as the weight of my tired eyelids forces them closed.

on saturday, i got a haircut (not all of them, just some) and we went to VT to help with the cabin construction.

i brought up the idea of naming the camp, my suggestion:

Starfall.

Obi added Green to this thought:

Green Starfall.

Yes was played, wooden beams were installed, Gramma Weezy and Jenn played with baeden while Obi, Uncle LB and i constructed.

Sunday, Nana and Grampa came up and today they're spending the day with Jenn and snakey.

check out letters to the architect for some pics.

life with baby has meant less time going to the movies, thank you Netflix.... however, we have already reserved babysitting from O+GW for X-Mas so we can see The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou with Uncle LB.

SNL had a very touching tribute to Rodney Dangerfield this past Saturday.

Back to School is still a funny movie, it is no Quick Change, but....

the not-so-quiet corner

we to snakester to the Dr. on Friday, thinking maybe he had an ear infection or something...

nope.

just congestion.

we elevated the head of his bed, we've tried Vicks and Baby Tylenol cold and although it is easy to let him "cry it out" for an afternoon nap, it isn't so easy when his bed is right next to yours and it is 2am or 3am or 4am or....

on saturday, we went to the the Ct. Faire with Money Mark. Money and i purchased cloaks, which we wore later that night when the Knights of Madness got together to roll some d20s.

many of you think that is way too geeky and wonder why i'm sharing it.

i got home at 2am from the House of Madness, and went to bed, only to be awakened by the snakester.

he slept for a bit after a quick feeding and calming and awoke again at 3:15 or so.

jenn was at her wit's end, and since she is awesome enough to let me journey with my fellow Knights, i got up with him.

he was ready for fun-play-time, and in no way, shape or form do we want to encourage 3:30am play-time, so i quickly got dressed (when i put him down he continued his bawling) and suited him up and took him to the car, hoping a quick jaunt in the Es-Capé would get him back to sleep.

it did (sadly Wendy's drive through is not open at 4am, i really could have used a Frostee).

so i returned home after my loop.

i did not really want to risk waking him up, and actually thought that it might be good if he slept upright, to help drain his nose and relieve his congestion.

what to do.

my cloak was still in my car.

i grabbed my cloak, which is actually more of a poncho, and reclined the seat

and

i

slept

in

the

car.

for as long as he slept (about 2 hours, at which point he woke up and another quick car ride got him sleeping again).

but because of his car sleeping, mom was able to get 4 uninterrupted hours.

last night was more of the same, although he did have a three hour stretch.

shine on, brother, shine on.

if any knows of any Jedi masters that are available....

el snake-o has been battling, shall we say, a cold. not really any symptons, aside from the green mucous that comes out his congested nose.

now, for the past week or so, this fine young man, who has been known to sleep through the night, and on a "bad night" get up once or twice, has found it necessary to wake up every 2 hours on average.

sometimes it is 1 1/2 hours, sometimes almost 3.

jenn and i are getting a bit punchy as you might imagine.

my theory is that he wakes up because of congestion.

but the real kicker is not that he wakes up and coos himself back to sleep, no...

he wakes up and is usually screaming within 5 minutes, and utterly inconsolable until mommy picks him up and feeds him.

we'll call the Dr. today, to see if we can get a visit in before the weekend to see if he has any advice, but i think ben kenobi might be our only help....

the skinny

okay, so we have some pictures, but I have not uploaded them yet.

jenn and i are both back into the school swing, and that is taking much of our time. we are both enjoying work, but it is taxing, thus the reason they call it work, not play.

snakester was sent home from day care last Friday, which meant that he and i had a daddy/ son day... while i was at work.

he had a slight fever and might have caught hand-foot-mouth-racecar-turtle-jellybean disease... fun stuff. he was kind of fussy on saturday evening (which Jenn had to handle on her own, as i was on dorm duty) but seems to be okay now. the experts say it is not the same as hoof-and-mouth syndorme, but we won't be planning on eating him anytime soon.

we have turned snakester onto music as he lies down for the evening.

we'll be heading the CT. Faire this weekend as we have friends working/ performing there.

and soon, i should be announcing a new venture with some friends, but if you've been a visitor to this site and have grown sick of baby news and want to know more of what i'm thinking, you will not be disappointed.

the rest of you see this line break and start reading again.

hope you are well.

a real boy!!!

after 2 weeks of day care, the report is good.
baeden likes playing and napping and seems to have quite a fun time.

a couple days ago we tried him on "real food" for the first time:

"Ummm.... this isn't the format i'm used to getting my food with..."

rice cereal... not bad.

mom's getting used to feeding the little guy with her top on.

fingers crossed... hoping mom doesn't get crazy ideas about who gets up in the middle of the night to feed the snakester...

crawling would be great, but not off the changing table.

Mirror, Mirror...

VT

our trip to VT had to happen on Saturday instead of Sunday, because Uncle Chris was getting back from Alaska on Sunday and needed to move on Monday into his new pad.

Obi and Gramma Weezy were working hard when we arrived, and i like to think that because of our being there we were able to assist them in getting the 2nd tower Tyveked and windowed so they could have Sunday free.

snakester has played a great joke on us: last weekend, before Jenn went back to school he was sleeping through the night.
now, he likes to get up 4 or 5 times a night and eat and play in his crib.... must find a way to get sleep.
he starts Day Care tomorrow, he'll be picking up slang and bad habits any day now.

he wants to crawl and is working on the process on how to get it done, but of the three points that need to be raised to make crawling possible (arms, legs, head) he is only able to get two at any one time.

he was very happy to see Gramma Weezy and Obi and he might also be smiling because he is tickled pink by his choice of attire (remember kids, in order to scare away potentially aggressive moose all you have to do is ask "Can I help you?!?")

toofy and back to the grind

en route to Maine, Matt, the boys and Grampa stopped by for a quick visit and use of the "facilities"

quality time with the nephew

wasn't there a fable: "Grampa and the Snake?"

i'll take full credit for this
to get everyone to look, i foolishly instructed
"Pick your nose"
hoping i could snap the picture when everyone looked.
stoopid digital camera shutter speeds...

somebody's first tooth came in

jenn went back to work on Monday
when we told the snakester that daddy would be in charge

it all turned out okay

hipsters will recognize my helper

training starts for me on tuesday which means baeden will have his first day of day care; this weekend we're heading up to VT; neighbors moved in downstairs, we've been cleaning out the basement (not a eupemism); summer is over... 9 months until the fun starts back up.

stay tuned!!!

$5 milkshakes, haircuts, meds and sleep

so, we took the ferry down to LI so jenn could get her hair cut and colored for school.

if'n you're interested:

since snakester is still nursing, we have to give him some vitamins every day so that he can get his iron. is he really getting it, if he spits most of it out?

when the Dr. told baeden he had to take 2 naps a day and go to bed around 7:30, he listened. his only struggle, when going down, is getting comfy, and it usually ends up with him positioned like this (the camera does not do justice to the little heiney sticking up):

and lastly, no pics, but we're sending good vibes to our friend Jeff who recently found out thAt thE insurance company That he (aNd i And pete past-tense) works for is closing the branch he works for next March. he isn't likely to relocate to Jacksonville, FL, but he has been known to surprise (hot dogs!?!).

i'm on the lookout, and if anyone else out there knows of any jobs for a guy who has some mad compooter h4XXoR skillz, let me know.

SERENITY NOW!
